Earth Net is the Lead Partner for an FK South to South Exchange on Climate Change Adaption
Earth Net Foundation is now entering its second year as lead partner for an FK South to South exchange programme with partners from Lao PDR, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, and Cambodia. The focus of this exchange is on "Assisting small scale farmers to adapt to climate change through sustainable agriculture techniques and appropriate technology." This year Earth Net Foundation has received 4 participants: Mr. Sonam, from the National Seed Centre of Bhutan, Ms. Sidavanh from SAEDA in Laos, Mr. Saran from CEDAC in Cambodia, and Ms. Leki from BAOWE in Bhutan. At the same time ENF has sent two persons abroad, Mr. Pichai is working with BAOWE in Bhutan to develop their capacity in organic vegetable production, local organic marketing and other areas. Ms. Nirin of Khao Kwan Foundation is to work with Sri Lanka Nature Forum to help farmers there develop their skills in rice seed selection, breeding, organic soil improvement and post-harvest quality management. The 4 participants in Thailand are divided in two groups of two. Two are working with Wanakaset to learn about natural medicine and natural product production while sharing their knowledge, two are to work with Joko Learning Center in Nan, and in Mae Tha, Chiangmai on developing capacity in organic vegetable seed production and post-harvest management. With the increased capacity that is hoped to developed in these areas, the 5 partners see that their farmer networks should have more tools and capacity to prepare for the risks and challenges posed by the changing climatic conditions.
