This past 8th of May as the second Saturday of May was World Fair Trade Day with celebrations and events around the world. Green Net co-organized an event with a number of other Thai Fair Trade Organizations including: Thai Craft, Izara Arts, Lofty Bamboo, Lanna Café, Sawang Boran, Solidarity Group, and Thai Tribal Crafts.

Nowadays, new expectations are place on organic agriculture, not just to be environmental friendly for farm agro-ecosystem, but also to address larger environmental and social concerns such as of on-farm energy consumption, food security, and climate changes. These new challenges requires innovative way of working.

HIVOS and Earth Net Foundation co-organized this conference titled “Towards a pro-poor rice value chain” held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, 18-20 December 2008. This was a chance to look at what had been accomplished since the first meeting in Sri Lanka 4 years ago as well as look at current challenges, obstacles, and opportunities for broaden the reach and benefit of this work
